Hundreds of passengers were forced to temporarily evacuate the Delta Air Lines terminal at La Guardia Airport last evening after a security breach by a passenger, officials said. The passenger set off a metal detector about 5:40 p.m., but apparently left the security area and continued to a gate before she could be fully checked, said Amy Von Walter, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration, part of the federal Department of Homeland Security. Security officers evacuated the terminal. Four departing flights were delayed, and passengers were required to pass through security checkpoints again, said Dan Maynard, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
