Fresh fighting has taken place between troops and gunmen who attacked a police camp in Indian-administered Kashmir. Soldiers destroyed a building on Wednesday in which the militants had taken refuge near army headquarters in Srinagar a day earlier. A number of civilians had earlier been evacuated from the building. Heavy firing continued during the day. Tens of thousands have died since Muslim militants took up arms against Indian rule in Kashmir in 1989. The gunmen killed a policeman and wounded two others in the raid on the Central Reserve Police Force camp on Tuesday, before hiding inside the complex. Gunfire and grenade blasts could be heard coming from the camp. Full Story
