The founder of a radical Iraqi Islamist organization living in Norway said in comments published on Tuesday he was willing to go to the United States to answer suspicions that the group is linked to terrorism. “I don’t want to be a problem for Norway,” Iraqi Kurd Mullah Krekar told the daily Aftenposten in an interview after U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft said during a visit to Oslo that Krekar’s Ansar al-Islam group was behind terrorism. “I am willing to travel to the United States and answer questions there,” Krekar said, adding that U.S. FBI agents had interrogated him last year when he was briefly held in a jail in the Netherlands. “I am 100 percent certain that I haven’t done anything against the United States or other countries,” he said.
