The body of the Sierra Leonean rebel leader Foday Sankoh who was indicted for war crimes has gone missing from its grave. “Sankoh’s body is missing from the grave – the grave has been checked… and the body is no longer to be seen,” a police officer told Reuters news agency. Mr Sankoh formed the Revolutionary United Front (RUF), whose 10-year terror campaign included hacking off the hands, feet, lips and ears of Sierra Leone’s civilians and raping thousands of girls and women. He had been buried earlier this month in his hometown in Magburaka about 210 kilometres (130 miles) from Freetown after dying while in the custody of the UN-backed war crimes court. Full Story
