A Maoist source said that government security forces killed their eight militias, including five commanders of the western division headquarters, in Masuriya Village Development Committee of Kailali on August 11. The Defence Ministry, however, had confirmed the deaths of only five Maoists during an “encounter”. The Maoist source said the security forces rounded up a Maoist squad and shot them dead when they were changing their shelters. Meanwhile, a report from Dadeldhura states that the Maoist rebels imposed a ban on vehicular movement in Darchula and Bajhang districts after the security forces arrested 12 Maoist cadres along with arms three days ago.
