An Indian general who survived a suicide attack in Kashmir said Muslim rebels may intensify such attacks in the Himalayan region in order to wreck a fledgling peace process with Pakistan. Eight soldiers were killed and two generals hurt Tuesday when three militants launched a suicide attack on an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir. All three attackers were killed. “These (suicide) attacks will be there…We are maintaining relentless pressure on them. Probably they will increase, these are part of the complete war we are fighting,” Lieutenant General Hari Prasad told a news conference. “The terrorists, to be able to keep the morale and movement alive, have to resort to some drastic action where they get publicity,” Prasad said. He said some 2,500-3,000 militants were operating in Kashmir where more than 38,000 people have been killed in 14 years of separatist violence. Full Story
