Indian Defence Minister George Fernandes has rejected criticism of security arrangements at an army camp where eight soldiers were killed on Tuesday. The commander of the Indian army in Kashmir, Lieutenant General Hari Prasad, was among those injured in the attack. The incident came just hours after an earlier attack in Indian-administered Kashmir in which seven Hindu pilgrims were killed in a grenade blast. Indian officials say the violence is the work of those trying to derail peace moves between India and Pakistan.
