An anti-terrorism court Monday sentenced two Islamic militants to hang after finding them guilty of planning a suicide car bombing that killed 11 French engineers last year. The May 8, 2002, bombing in Karachi was part of a series of attacks against Westerners and minority Christians since late 2001, when President Pervez Musharraf made his country a key ally of the U.S.-led coalition in the war on terror. His policy, however, angered Islamic militants who have been urging the government to withdraw its support to the United States. Asif Zaheer and Bashir Ahmed, both members of Harakat-ul Mujahedeen al Almi, an outlawed Islamic militant group, heard the sentence in a heavily fortified jail in Karachi. Full Story
