The Defense CIO today endorsed the next version of the Internet Protocol, known as IPv6, to integrate sensors, weapons and systems on the Defense Department’s Global Information Grid. The successor to IPv4 improves system security and service quality, said CIO John Stenbit, also DOD’s assistant secretary for networks and information integration. He spoke at a Pentagon briefing. The move to IPv6 won’t take place until around 2008, Stenbit said. Full Story
