As the Iraq war raises concerns about fresh waves of cyberattacks, a new study questions whether the states have done enough to protect their critical information systems. Nearly half of state agencies have failed to adopt cybersecurity policies and programs similar to their federal counterparts, a Zeichner Risk Analytics study has found. The study, to be released on Monday, concludes that security mandates envisioned in the Homeland Security Act could be a tall order for many states that are already struggling to keep up with previous requirements. The report notes, for example, that while Congress required state bank regulators to institute cybersecurity rules more than a year ago, few have done so. Full Story
