Two men accused of masterminding a suicide bomb attack in Karachi last year have appeared before an anti-terrorism court. Asif Zaheer and Rizwan Bashir were making their first appearance since proceedings were switched to a heavily-guarded courtroom in Karachi central jail. The two men are accused of planning a car bomb attack last May outside the city’s Sheraton hotel, in which 14 people, 11 of them French, were killed. Two Pakistanis and the suicide bomber who drove the car laden with explosives also died. The authorities ordered the trial to be moved to the jail on security grounds.
