“Loud explosions and sporadic bursts of gunfire could be heard coming from an upscale mall here on Monday, as Kenyan security forces tried to dislodge Islamist militants who were believed to be holed up inside the building with hostages for a third consecutive day. A total of 69 people are confirmed dead in the standoff, making it the deadliest terrorist attack in Kenya in 15 years. Some 175 were injured. Sixty-three people remain missing, according to the Kenyan Red Cross. “
