Abrams Designated US Ambassador to Israel

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict may finally take some fruitful steps toward peace in 2005. The United States needs to be an honest broker driving both parties to get on with ?the roadmap.? The US has designated Elliott Abrams as the next US Ambassador to Israel . While the appointment of Abrams will not elate Palestinians, he is the one person with the chutzpah to hold Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to removing the settlements. Abrams is just the person to break the cycle of targeted assassination and suicide bombings in which Israel and Palestine are caught up. Without the prodding of the US, this cycle of violence will continue.
