13 Peruvian Troops Killed in Ambushes
Two ambushes, suspected to have been carried out by leftist rebels, left 13 soldiers dead in a mountainous region of Peru where security forces are fighting cocaine traffickers, the government said Saturday. Defense Minister Antero Flores said both attacks took place Thursday in Ayacucho Province, a coca-growing area and the birthplace of the Maoist Shining Path guerrilla group. Full Story
