Chavez militarizes repression of opponents
The regime of President Hugo Chávez, who until now had been a concern for democratic forms, is taking a turn militaristic and repressive increasingly radical against dissidents and opponents, which is causing concern and anxiety in the South American country. In the most recent of these operations, a command of military intelligence officers heavily armed arrested this week when a retired general and former Defense Minister Raul Baduel, a former Chavez ally since 2007 but a harsh critic of Chavez.Full Story
