By electing Syed Munawar Hassan as their chief for the next five years, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) members have upheld the tradition of elevating their party’s secretary general to the office of ameer and said no to jihad and politics – as the new head of the party has an image of being an ‘organisational man’.
