An Algerian police officer and a business contractor were killed in a roadside bombing in Algeria, local media reported Monday, as al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for several other recent ambushes. The two men were visiting a construction site for a new police building on Sunday in the Tebessa area 370 miles east of Algiers when they were killed by a bomb planted by Islamic militants, the national daily Liberte reported, citing unidentified security sources.
