Turkish officials said Tuesday they expect France, long an opponent of the Turkish European Union membership bid, to approach membership negotiations fairly and openly during the six-month French EU presidency beginning next month. At a Luxembourg accession conference, Turkey and the EU opened two new chapters in negotiations, covering company law and intellectual property rights, bringing the total issues under discussion to 8 of 35.
