Impact of earthquake on the Chinese economy is seen as minimal

The powerful earthquake that hit southwestern China three weeks ago has been devastating for people in the affected region but seems to have had a limited effect on China’s economy. Only 1 percent of China’s population lived in the quake-affected area, in northern Sichuan Province.
