The United States said on Wednesday that it was “deeply concerned” at the death in prison of a Kurdish Iranian student who had been arrested by the country’s secret police in Sanandaj, western Iran. “The United States is deeply concerned about the tragic death under suspicious circumstances of Ebrahim Lotfallahi, an Iranian student of Kurdish descent detained by the Ministry of Intelligence on January 6”, said U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack in a press statement.
