The Polish defense minister said Tuesday that the United States appeared willing to consider his country’s insistence on U.S. security aid in exchange for the deployment of U.S. missile interceptors in Poland. Defense Minister Bogdan Klich, speaking after separate meetings with Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Tuesday and Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte on Monday, also said the officials had expressed understanding about the decision by his government to withdraw Polish troops from Iraq by the end of October.
