Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani said from Cairo on Tuesday that Tehran was seeking to restore peace and stability in Lebanon. Larijani expressed his country’s willingness to “cooperate with Egypt and all Arab countries in order to restore peace and security in the Arab world, particularly in Iraq and Lebanon.”He stressed that Iran “will recognize and welcome any president agreed on by the various Lebanese parties.” He also pointed to the important role Egypt and the Arab League were playing in helping “the various parties in Lebanon to reach consensus.”
