Pro-Thaksin party leads in Thailand’s first post-coup election

The party aligned with ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra took a strong lead in Thailand’s general election Sunday, more than a year after the bloodless coup that toppled him, according to two exit polls. A poll by the Assumption University gave the pro-Thaksin People Power Party (PPP) 202 out of the 480 seats up for grabs, while a poll by Rajabhat University at Suan Dusit gave the party 256 seats.
