The Philippine rebel group Abu Sayyaf has been eyeing foreigners, including U.S. servicemen deployed in the country’s southern region of Mindanao, as their new kidnapping targets, the Philippine National Police said in a statement on Friday. Quoting a report from the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), Police Director General Avelino Razon told reporters that the group was planning to carry out attacks and kidnappings in Zamboanga City and Basilan and was out to “replenish its depleted resources.” Full Story
