A Philippine court threw out rebellion charges against a former vice-president, two clergymen and 15 other people on Thursday, saying police failed to establish their role in a botched coup attempt two weeks ago. But Judge Elmo Alameda, of the Makati regional trial court, also ordered that a senator, an army brigadier-general and a dozen soldiers stand trial on charges of rebellion for the November 29 coup attempt.
