Georgians March to Restore Banned TV Station
About 30,000 demonstrators marched across Tbilisi, the Georgian capital, on Sunday to demand that the authorities let a top independent television station back on the air. It was the first major opposition rally in Georgia since a violent dispersal of anti-government protests this month, and it took place as President Mikheil Saakashvili stepped down to campaign for an early presidential vote on Jan. 5.
