Communist guerrillas blew up a mobile phone mast in the central Philippines, possibly as part of an attempt at extortion, a police statement said Saturday. A large group of guerrillas from the New People’s Army (NPA) raided the Globe Telecom mast on the island of Masbate on Friday, disarming the lone security guard and then planting explosives at the base, the police said.
