Musharraf agrees to attend Afghan-Pakistan peace council

Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf agreed to attend the closing session of a meeting of hundreds of Afghan and Pakistani tribal leaders discussing the rising militant violence along their shared border. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Afghan President Hamid Karzai had phoned Musharraf Friday evening and invited him to attend the jirga’s closing session _ due on Sunday _ saying Musharraf’s participation would be “a source of support and encouragement for the jirga process.” Full Story
