Gunmen have kidnapped a Nigerian oil worker in the southern city of Port Harcourt, police said Thursday, as troops reportedly deployed across the oil-rich Niger Delta to stem a rising wave of violence. “Peter Ogwuma, a staff (member) of Elf Petroleum, was abducted at about 9:00 pm (2200 GMT) on Tuesday night as he was about to leave the church for home,” said Felix Ogbuadu, police commissioner for Rivers State.
