Myanmar frees five activists
Military-run Myanmar has freed five activists, four of whom were arrested in May after calling for the release of detained democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, state media said Saturday. The four members of Aung San Suu Kyi’s opposition party, the National League for Democracy, were released Friday, along with an activist who was held in April for protesting rising taxes, the New Light of Myanmar newspaper said.
