The UN peacekeeping force in the Democratic Republic of Congo warned on Wednesday of “growing insecurity” in the east of the country where abductions, murders and attacks on civilians are on the increase. The UN force, known as MONUC, said people in the eastern region of North-Kivu were in constant fear of “harrassment, lootings and other violence such as the forced displacenment of civilians”.
