Latvia’s President Vike-Freiberga focuses on security on last day in office
Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga Saturday marked the end of her leadership of the Baltic state by voting in a referendum which she called after claiming planned security reforms would harm the country’s reputation within NATO. Vike-Freiberga was due to leave office at midnight Saturday after eight years as head of state, during which she stamped her personality and vision on the largely figurehead post. Full Story
