Police in Lahore claimed to have arrested eight terrorists, including the ringleader of a banned religious group, and seized a large cache of explosives. The accused, who were captured with the help of other law-enforcement agencies, were allegedly planning sabotage activities in Lahore and after that Quetta. The ‘ringleader,’ Safeer Ahmad, alias Mohammad Azeem of Kharian, was wanted by the Punjab government with a bounty of one million rupees, and was a former leader of the Jaish-i-Mohammad, a Kashmir based militant group responsible for numerous attacks in India.
