The outlawed Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) has rejected Filipino president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s recent offer to resume peace talks, saying the proposal was “insincere and laden with insidious preconditions.” CPP spokesperson Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal said the Arroyo government’s continuing refusal to honor its own commitments renders the resumption of peace talks with it practically impossible.
