Sarkozy poised for big win but faces row over VAT rise

French voters are expected to give President Nicolas Sarkozy a crushing majority in the National Assembly when they go to the polls tomorrow for the fourth time in seven weeks. After a charmed first month in the presidency, M. Sarkozy has begun to lose control of the political debate for the first time in recent days.
