As Egyptians prepare to vote in elections for parliament’s upper house, the opposition Muslim Brotherhood – the government’s main challenger in elections – has had hundreds of its members detained. The opposition says it is a clear attempt to prevent the group from gaining ground within the Shura Council in elections on Monday.
