FEAR has returned to Spain. From the 32nd America’s Cup unfolding in Valencia to the football stadiums of Madrid and tourist resorts of the Costa del Sol, security forces were on maximum alert this weekend after an announcement by Eta, the Basque terror group, that it was ending a 15-month ceasefire. Security sources warned that an attack could be imminent and that the shadowy group with hideouts in the French Pyrenees could strike anywhere, targeting airports, bus and train stations or even hotels in an attempt to hurt the tourist industry.
