Nigerian union threatens strike over fuel price hike

Nigeria’s central labour union has given the government a 14-day ultimatum to reverse a recent hike in the price of petrol or faced an indefinite strike, officials said Monday. The 15 percent price-increase came just 24 hours before former president Olusegun Obasanjo stepped down on May 29 after two terms and eight years in office, handing power to new President Umaru Yar’Adua.
