A Lebanese soldier was killed by sniper fire Thursday from inside a Palestinian refugee camp where the military and Islamic militants have been engaged in a standoff for nearly two weeks, security officials said. The death raises to 32 the number of Lebanese soldiers killed since fighting between the army and Fatah Islam militants broke out at the Nahr el-Bared camp on May 20.
