Rwandan rights activist sentenced for genocide role
A Rwandan genocide court has handed a 19-year prison sentence to a prominent human rights activist for participating in the country’s 1994 mass murder. Francois-Xavier Byuma, a member of the Rwandan League for the Promotion and Defence of Human Rights, was sentenced Sunday by a grassroots genocide court for colluding with criminals and beating and injuring a woman during the 100-day killing spree.
