Venezuela’s supreme court has ordered the defence ministry to take control of Radio Caracas Television installations and equipment amid a show of force before the station’s closure. Hundreds of people have protested against the decision by Hugo Chavez, the president, to close RCTV, which he accuses of backing a 2002 coup against him. The court ordered the military to “guard, control and monitor” some of RCTV’s installations including transmission equipment and antennas. Full Story
