Jailed Islamist cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri was part of a global plot to wage holy war against Western countries, a US official said Thursday at a British hearing for his extradition to the United States. Washington wants Hamza, 48, who is serving a jail sentence in Britain, to stand trial on charges of abducting Western tourists in Yemen and helping to set up a terrorist training camp in the US.
