The purported chief of al-Qaeda in North Africa urged Algerians to boycott Thursday’s “farcical” legislative election, in an audiotape aired on Monday by Al-Jazeera television. “These elections are nothing but a farce that is not different from other farces seen before in Algeria,” said Abu Mussaab Abdul Wadud. “If you take part in these elections, you will be sharing those apostates’ flagrant act,” added the voice attributed by the Doha-based channel to Abdul Wadud.
