Mutinous Guinean soldiers firing their weapons into the air caused panic in the capital Conakry on Friday as they moved a week-old military pay protest out of their barracks onto the streets. Passers-by fled in panic, shops and banks closed their shutters, and workers and motorists rushed to get home as heavily-armed protesting soldiers marched to a camp in the centre of the sprawling coastal city.
