A U.S. Peace Corps volunteer has been missing for nearly a week in a mountainous region of the northern Philippines, the American Embassy said Saturday. Julia Campbell, 40, of Fairfax, Va., was last seen on Easter Sunday in the town of Banaue in Ifugao province where she planned to hike alone, embassy spokesman Matthew Lussenhop said. The area, about 160 miles north of Manila, is famed for its mountain rice terraces and pine forests. The armed wing of the Communist Party — the New People’s Army — also operates there. Full Story
