Police said Monday they are investigating a Bangladeshi businessman’s allegation that then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina demanded money seven years ago to allow his company to build a power plant. It was the latest corruption charge aimed at the South Asian nation’s politicians since a military-backed acting government assumed power to hold parliamentary elections, which were later put off indefinitely because of widespread political violence in the streets.
