E Timor political tensions spark violence

Well, East Timor’s Prime Minister Jose Ramos Horta has appealed for calm after the country’s presidential election campaign turned violent. The United Nations says at least 32 people have been injured in clashes between supporters of rival candidates. Rocks were thrown, five people injured by steel darts and in one incident UN police fired warning shots. Anne Barker filed this report from the East Timorese capital of Dili. Full Story
