Fear of nuclear terrorism has prompted the government to reopen a lab here that evaluates human radiation exposures based on chromosome damage. In the event of a mass-casualty event, the Oak Ridge facility could help guide the emergency response. “We all know that the threat of attack has become more credible,” Robert Brown, the U.S. Department of Energy’s chief operating officer in Oak Ridge, said Friday at a dedication ceremony. The Cytogenetic Biodosimetry Lab is a part of the Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site, which is managed by Oak Ridge Associated Universities for the federal government. Full Story
