The al Qaeda network has named a militant Islamist commander trained in Afghanistan as its representative in Mogadishu, the Somali government said on Thursday. “After they (the Islamists leaders) had a long consultation with al Qaeda, they named Aden Hashi Ayro as the head of (al Qaeda) operations in Mogadishu,” Deputy Defence Minister Salad Ali Jelle told reporters in Mogadishu.
