Two members of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s cabinet on Sunday criticised his decision to shun the new Palestinian unity government but continue talking to moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Olmert’s spokeswoman, Miri Eisin, said after the coalition between the dominant Palestinian Islamist faction Hamas and Abbas’s Fatah was ratified on Saturday that Israel would boycott the new government, including non-Hamas ministers.
